The characters are a fun couple of friends, who are very in love but don’t really have a partner of any kind. They are simply friends, who happen to live in Hong Kong, where all the women are married and all the men are working. That relationship comes into play later on in the movie when the women realize that they have to have a good friend like Tai in their life, and so they seek out their old friendship with Po.
The nicest thing about Friend Now is that it plays on the universal friendship love theme, the idea that we should always keep friends. Tai has long lost his friendliness but finds real happiness when he meets a young girl named Miss Watson. She and Tai have a wonderful friendship, and later on in the movie, they even end up getting married. Tai comes to appreciate what it means to have true friends, and he becomes a better person because of it. I would definitely give this a positive rating as a great animated friendship movie.
